DocScan · Effective 1 October 2026

This policy explains what data the DocScan app uses. We do not create accounts, and we do not run our own analytics.

Who we are

DocScan is a PDF and QR / barcode toolkit for Android and iOS. You can scan documents, convert images to PDF, merge or split PDFs, scan codes, and generate QR codes.

Information stored on your device

App data stays on your device using local storage. This includes:

Document images and PDFs you create are processed on your device. We do not upload your documents to our servers for scanning or conversion. Clearing app data or uninstalling the app deletes local data.

Camera and photos

DocScan requests camera access to scan documents and barcodes, and may request photo library / media access so you can pick images to convert to PDF. Images and scans are used only for the feature you chose and stay on your device unless you export or share them yourself.

Subscriptions (DocScan Pro)

Optional DocScan Pro subscriptions are purchased through Google Play or the Apple App Store. To verify and restore Pro, the app sends purchase tokens / receipts to our subscription verification service (a Cloudflare Worker). That service may store:

Payment card details are handled by Google or Apple, not by us. Store purchases are also subject to the Google Privacy Policy or Apple Privacy Policy.

Sharing and export

If you share a PDF, QR image, or scan result, the operating system share sheet opens. We do not receive the people you share with or the contents of that share.

Advertising

The free version shows ads through Google AdMob, which may include banner, interstitial, rewarded, and app-open ads. Pro removes ads.

Google and its advertising partners may collect or process:

On iOS, Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt may appear; you can refuse tracking. Google's ads are covered by the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

You can reset or opt out of personalized ads in device settings (Google settings on Android; Apple Tracking / Privacy settings on iOS).

What we do not collect

Children

DocScan does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Ads are provided by Google AdMob. If you are a parent and believe a child has provided personal information through ads, contact us and we will help with any request we can fulfill.

Data retention and deletion

Local files and preferences remain until you clear app storage or uninstall. Subscription verification records are kept only as needed to confirm entitlement and may be updated when you restore purchases or when the store notifies us of changes. Advertising data is retained by Google according to its own policies. To stop ads-related collection, uninstall the app or subscribe to Pro, and use the advertising opt-outs above.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including the EEA, UK, and California), you may have rights to access, delete, or restrict certain personal data, and to opt out of sale or sharing of personal information for advertising. We do not sell your information. For advertising data held by Google, use Google's tools or contact us and we will point you to the right request path. For subscription records we store, contact us at the email below.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the effective date on this page. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
